Edmonton’s Medical Examiner has deemed the death at the Edmonton Institution on August 16, 2011, a homicide with the cause of death being multiple stab wounds.
The victim has been identified as 21-year old Mason Tex Montgrand.
Charges are pending against a fellow inmate at the Edmonton Institution.
The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section continues to investigate.

Police were called out to a suspicious death of a 21-year old male inmate at the Edmonton Institution just before 8 p.m. on August 16, 2011.
An autopsy took place on August 17, 2011.
