Edmonton man killed after dispute with friend

Just before 9:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, the Edmonton Police Service received numerous calls from neighbours and witnesses regarding a disturbance involving a ‘person at risk’ outside a residence on the south side of the city.

Within minutes, patrol officers arrived at the scene at Massey Landing, located in the Magrath community. Citizens, officers and EMS all attended to a critically injured 59-year-old male who lay in the driveway of a residence. Despite these efforts, the man died of his injuries on scene.

Officers quickly gathered evidence and witness statements, which soon resulted in locating a male suspect in the downtown area. He was driving a black 2011 BMW, and had allegedly left the scene on Massey Landing shortly before police arrived. The 26-year-old suspect was taken into custody without incident. The victim and suspect are known to each other.

The autopsy has been completed on Mohan HEER (59). The Medical Examiner has determined manner of death to be homicide. Cause of death being multiple blunt trauma.

Homicide detectives are conducting interviews and charges are pending.
