A 28 year-old Regina Police Service member has been charged with Common Assault, relating to an incident which occurred while on duty.

On February 27, 2011, a complaint was received by the Regina Police Service from a 25 year-old adult male that excessive force had been used while in police custody. The complaint was brought forward to the Provincial Complaints Commission and independently investigated. As a result of the investigation, a four-year constable with the Regina Police Service, Colin B. BELCOURT, (DOB: 1983-02-15) has been charged with Common Assault [266 CC]. He will be making his first court appearance on September 27, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. at Provincial Court. There is also a corresponding internal process, as per The Police Act, 1990.
Constable Belcourt has been reassigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of the criminal process.
