Ottawa man arrested for possession of explosives

The Ottawa Police Service has charged an Ottawa man with a number of criminal offenses in relation to possession of explosive substance and weapon.

On August 15, 2011, Ottawa Police patrol officers responded to a call for service in relation to a disturbance in the 100 block of Augusta Street. During the police investigation, a prohibited weapon and explosives were located.

Zacharie LEBLANC, 28 years old, of Ottawa, has been charged on August 26th with:
• Unlawful possession of explosive substance s. 82(1);
• Possess explosive substance to endanger life s. 81(1)(d)(i);
• Breach Undertaking s. 145(5.1) x2;
• Breach Probation s. 733.1(1);
• Breach Weapons Prohibition s. 117.01 x2;
• Possess weapon for dangerous purpose s. 88(1).

He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, August 26, 2011.
