On Saturday, August 27, 2011, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a local citizen in the Warden Avenue and St. John’s Sideroad area discovered what appeared to be human remains. The remains have been transported to the Centre of Forensic Sciences building in Toronto where experts will attempt to determine the identity of the victim, cause and date of death. At this time there is no indication of age, sex or race of the remains.
As the investigation continues, Homicide Unit investigators, officers from the #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Forensic Identification Unit will conduct a more thorough search of the area. Warden Avenue between St. John’s Sideroad and Aurora Road will continue to be closed to protect, the scene and the investigators who are working on the roadway. Investigators anticipate the road will be open by 7 p.m. on Tuesday night.
Investigators have not yet determined if the death was suspicious
