After leaving a house party in Ajax early Sunday morning with a stolen van, four teens suffered serious injuries moments later when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

On Sunday September 4, 2011 at approximately 4:46 a.m. officers from West Division responded to the vicinity of Lake Driveway West in Ajax for a single motor vehicle collision involving multiple serious injuries. Officers and EMS personnel at scene located three male occupants with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The male driver had fled the scene prior to police arrival after losing control of the vehicle, leaving the roadway and striking a tree. Three victims were transported to a local hospital for medical treatment where two victims were further transported to a Toronto area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers canvassed the area and located the male driver, who received medical treatment for his injuries and was arrested and later released with conditions.

A 16-year-old male from Ajax is charged with: Theft Over $5,000 and Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000. The driver was further charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Careless Driving and Drive No Licence.
