In an astonishing turn of events Rick Perry left his opponent and favorite Mitt Romney behind in the fundraising race during the third quarter of 2011. Rick collected a staggering $17 Million in the sake of his presidential effort. It sure sound like truck loads of money, but would it be enough for Rick?

Well the answer to that is Yes And No

Yes because collecting 17 Million in just 49 days is no mean effort. It is as formidable as it can get considering that the leading candidate and many people’s favorite Mitt Romney collected around 14 Million dollars, but many people are of the opinion that in the long run this might not prove to be enough because the election campaigns are long, complicated and very heavy on the pockets.

His triumph in fundraising authenticates that he remains a stern contender in the fight for the Republican presidential nomination, in spite of a sharp drop in the polls over the last few weeks.

The most recent CBS poll puts businessman Herman Cain neck to neck with Mitt Romney on 17%, with Perry on 12%, down from 23% a fortnight ago.

Perry has used only $2m of the $17m raised, leaving him with $15m to spend in an advertising blitz closer to the caucuses and primaries, which will start in January.
