Washington man Arvel Crawford arrested for double murder

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch have announced an arrest has been made in the double homicide which occurred in the Unit block of K Street, Northwest.

On Thursday, August 14, 2008 at approximately 10:07 am, officers from the First District responded to the Unit block of K Street, NW for the sounds of gunshots.  Upon their arrival, officers discovered two victims lying on the sidewalk alongside of the Unit block of K Street, NW. The first victim who was identified as 61-year-old Nolan Cooper was suffering from a single gunshot wound to the body.  The second victim who was identified as 18-year-old JohnQuan Douglas Wright was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded and transported the first victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.  The second victim was not transported and remained on the scene.  He was pronounced dead on the scene by a member of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia.

On Thursday, December 29, 2011, at approximately 11:15 am, detectives of the Homicide Branch arrested 21-year-old Arvel Crawford of Southeast, Washington, DC, pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant charging him with Second Degree Murder while Armed in the double homicide.
