Elderly man Matthew Gerard MacDonald sentenced 25 years imprisonment

A 60-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison with no eligibility for parole for 25 years after pleading guilty to second degree murder. Matthew Gerard MacDonald appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on March 5, 2012.

MacDonald was charged with the second degree murder of 63-year-old Roch Thériault on February 26, 2011 at Dorchester Penitentiary. Both men were inmates at the prison and were involved in an altercation. Thériault died as a result of his injuries.
