The court in Wetaskiwin, Alta. will hear from a psychiatrist who will shed light on Allyson McConnell’s condition when she killed her two sons by drowning in a bathtub.

Allyson McConnell claims she completely treasured her kids and never planned to harm them. However, she refuses to remember the events that took place during the last weekend of January 2010 when she ended up drowning her sons: 2-year-old Connor and 10-month-old Jayden.

Apparently, McConnell did not realize what she had done until her mother and sister told her as she recovered in hospital. She is been treated by psychiatrist Dr. Alberto Choy at Alberta Hospital for the past two years. After undergoing therapy, she was able to see her eldest son in dreams – calling out for help.

Also, McConnell told the court about her first miscarriage when she was a teenager. She was carrying her own father’s child. She also mentioned having communication issues with her husband in their early years of marriage. She told the court the couple’s youngest son was not planned.

During her testimony Monday, McConnell seemed much confused and hazed. She could not instantly answer to very simple questions. When her lawyer, Peter Royal, asked her age, she said, “I’m 33 years old, I believe… I haven’t kept track of it recently.”
