Mississauga man Alexander Lesniak charged with second degree murder

Officers with the Peel Regional Police Homicide Bureau have made an arrest in the first murder of 2012.

On Sunday, March 18, 2012, at approximately 1:45 a.m., the victim, 23 year old Jarvis Mascarenhas of Brampton, was one of several parties involved in an altercation in the parking lot of a strip plaza located on Dundas Street East near Hurontario Street in the City of Mississauga.

Police and EMS attended in response to reports of a disturbance.  Upon arrival, the victim was located with obvious signs of trauma resulting from a stab wound. The victim was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

On March 20, 2012, after a brief but exhaustive investigation, police arrested 24 year old Alexander Lesniak of Mississauga.  He has been charged with Second Degree Murder and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on Wednesday, March 21, 2012.

Although this investigation is on-going, there are no outstanding suspects and no further arrests are anticipated.
