The lawyer of Kelly Altenburg, former teacher of a ten-year old boy, says his client did not abuse young Akian at a New Jersey school. He further accuses Akian’s father, Stuart Chaifetz, of putting Altenburg and her family’s repute in danger.

Allegedly, Chaifetz has evidence of the entire scene. He has an audio tape that records the school staff verbally abusing his son and mocking him. He says he does not know what made the school staff treat his child in such a demeaning manner. The audio recording was also uploaded on YouTube.

In response, the authorities at Cherry Hill schools said: “individuals who are heard on the recording raising their voices and inappropriately addressing children no longer work in the district and have not since shortly after we received the copy of the recording.”

In the audio recording, Chaifetz says it is evident the staff was “literally making my son’s life a living hell” by calling him a “bastard,” telling him to “shut up.”

On the other hand, Altenburg’s lawyer said the accusations have damaged her reputation and Chaifetz will have to pay for his pointless allegations.

“Mr. Chaifetz … has been disingenuous in his assertions and has failed to advise the public accurately, including the fact that for at least approximately one hour in the beginning of the day at issue, Mrs. Altenburg was not even in the classroom with Mr. Chaifetz’s son,” the lawyer, Matthew B. Wieliczko, wrote in the emailed statement.
