The Burnaby RCMP are warning the public about an urgent public safety risk involving 26-year-old Angus David Mitchell who is wanted for attempted murder.

Mitchell is armed and extremely dangerous and his whereabouts are unknown. He is believed to be armed with a high powered rifle with a scope. He is also believed to be living out of his 1994 green Ford Aerostar van with BC licence 591PTG. The public is asked to be on the lookout for this van in parking lots or isolated locations where he may be staying in it overnight. In addition, anyone who knows Mitchell and has had a conflict with him in the past needs to be extremely cautious about their personal safety.

This would include former co-workers, employers, landlords, room mates or anyone else who Mitchell has had a conflict with at ANY TIME in the past.

Mitchell is wanted in connection with the attempted murder of a 51-year-old Burnaby man who was shot on May 29th in front of his home located in the 4400 block of Gilpin Crescent in Burnaby. The victim survived the shooting but is in hospital in serious condition. The victim is a former landlord of Mitchell.

Mitchell is also a person of interest in the May 27th double homicide that occurred inside a sushi restaurant on Royal Oak in Burnaby. A motive for these homicides has not been established.

Mitchell is believed to be in possession of a high powered Mossberg Maverick rifle with a scope. He is considered emotionally unstable and for this reason police are asking for help from the public to find him. If spotted, he should not be approached or confronted, but 911 should be called immediately. Investigators are asking property owners of motels, restaurants and businesses to check their parking lots for Mitchell’s green Aerostar van. 

Mitchell is a former security guard and is not known to police. He is 5’4″ tall and weighs 121 pounds.
