A 68-year-old female motorcycle driver died at scene yesterday as a result of her injuries following a two-vehicle collision on Lakeridge Road and Regional Road 13 in the Township of Brock.
On Thursday June 21, 2012 at approximately 3:35 p.m., officers from North Division were called to the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle. Witnesses reported the motorcycle rider had been stopped eastbound on Regional Road 13 at Lakeridge Road, when the driver proceeded to turn south at Lakeridge Road, but lost control of her motorcycle and entered the northbound lane where it collided with a northbound Ford pick-up truck.
The novice rider of the motorcycle, a 68-year-old Toronto woman died at the scene. The driver of the pick-up was not injured. Next of kin were notified and are not releasing the name of the deceased.
Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. Investigators have determined that road and weather conditions were favorable at the time of the collision and alcohol is not a factor.
