Georgina man Andrew King facing several charges related to impaired driving causing death

The York Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit has arrested a suspect following a fatal collision in the Town of Georgina.

On Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at approximately 4:50 p.m., police responded to a two-vehicle collision in the intersection of Park Road and Smith Boulevard. Investigators with the Collision Investigation Unit were also called to the scene. They determined a black 2000 Honda motorcycle travelling south on Park Road entered the intersection and was struck by a blue 2000 Ford pick-up truck making a
left turn onto Smith Boulevard.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 56-year-old man from the Town of Georgina, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The passenger, a 42-year-old woman from the Town of Georgina, was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured. He was arrested at the scene.

– Impaired Driving Cause Bodily Harm
– Dangerous Operation Cause Death
– Dangerous Operation Cause Bodily Harm
– Criminal Negligence Cause Death
– Criminal Negligence Cause Bodily Harm
– Fail to Comply with Recognizance
– Drive While Disqualified
Mr. King has been held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in the Town of Newmarket sometime today.

The investigation is ongoing.
