Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Major Collision Bureau are appealing for witnesses, after a single vehicle collision has left a 17 year-old Brampton youth dead.

On Sunday, April 11, 2010, at approximately 10:00 p.m., a silver Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling westbound on Drew Road, approaching the intersection of David Hunting Drive. For reasons currently under investigation, the vehicle went off the roadway and collided with several trees and an empty bus stop. At some point the driver was ejected from the vehicle.

The investigation is still on-going, but investigators have determined that the victim was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Officers would like to remind everyone that wearing a seatbelt is still the single most effective thing you can do to save your life and reduce injuries, when involved in a collision.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the events leading up to it.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Major Collision Bureau at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3710. Information may also be left anonymously by calling Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by visiting www.peelcrimestoppers.ca, or by texting “PEEL”, followed by your tip to CRIMES (274637).
