Officers from the Major Collision Bureau are investigating the circumstances surrounding a collision that has left a 65 year-old Brampton resident dead.

On Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at approximately 10:39 a.m., the victim, Ms. Tina KUIPERS, was on foot in the area of Rutherford Road and Queen Street. At the same time, a white Freightliner tractor was travelling north along Rutherford Road, approaching Queen Street.

The victim was on the roadway, at the south-east corner of Rutherford Road and Queen Street, just as the Freightliner turned right, onto eastbound Queen Street. The victim was subsequently struck by the tractor and pronounced dead at the scene by the Coroner.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene. The roadway was closed for several hours for the investigation and investigators are appealing to the public for any witnesses who may have seen this incident, or the events leading up to it.
