The RCMP/HRP Integrated Major Crime Unit has arrested one male in the Narico Downey homicide investigation.
At approximately 8:48 p.m. on July 29th, 2012, RCMP responded to a 911 call of an injured man on Downey Road in North Preston where they found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was transported to the QEII Health Sciences Centre where he died from his injuries. The investigation was deemed a homicide.
The homicide investigation was added to the Nova Scotia Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program on September 28th, 2012. Information received because of the program assisted with the investigation. As a result, police were led to a male suspect in the case. Yesterday afternoon, that suspect turned himself in to the RCMP/HRP Integrated Major Crime Unit.
Stephan Johnson, 21-years-old, from North Preston, has been charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of Narico Downey. He will be appearing in Halifax Provincial Court this afternoon.
