Teenaged Multiple Sexual Assaults Suspect Denied Bail

The male teenaged suspect indicted of sexual assault on quite many women in Toronto’s Bloor and Christie area is ruled to stay in custody. A justice of peace has issued a detention order for the 15-year-old male teenager on Monday afternoon, i.e. few hours after he was arrested by the police.

According to the police, suspect is charged with a long series of sexual assault cases, all having the same course of women being sexually attacked from behind while they walked through the block at night. The Toronto police have not disclosed the identity of the minor teenaged suspect as narrated by the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police disclosed that the suspect was taken in custody sometime after 11 p.m. ET late Saturday night in the area of Bloor Street West and Roxton Road. Police has also alleged that he was arrested from another crime scene of an alleged sexual assault. Teen suspect is indicted with 14 charges of sexual assault and 2 charges of criminal harassment. Almost all major assault incidents date back to the summer.

The Toronto Police Chief, Bill Blair, was addressing a news conference on Monday conference to announce the charges when he stated that “we believe we have the person responsible for these assaults.” He pointed out that “these [are] crimes that … caused a tremendous amount of fear within our community.” He kept on implying that “fear, particularly among women, and their sense of safety in their own neighbourhood was taken from them as a result of these crimes.”
