On Thursday, May 20, 2010, at 7:48 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision in the Weston Road/Habitant Drive area.

It is reported that:

– a man was walking southbound on the CP Rail lines when a train approached,

– emergency braking was applied and a horn was sounded, but the train struck the man.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He is described as white, slim build with thinning, brown hair. He was wearing a grey sweatshirt and headphones which covered his ears completely, eliminating his ability to hear the approaching train and horn.

It is both illegal and dangerous to enter onto any rail corridor. If you do trespass, do not approach any track, ensure that you continually look in all directions and never use a device that eliminates any of your senses.
