Town of Caledon woman driver dies in a fatal vehicle collision at Township of King

Officers with the York Regional Police Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a fatal motor vehicle collision in the Township of King.

On Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at approximately 6:20 p.m., a 2011 Honda Odyssey van, driven by an 80-year-old woman from the Town of Caledon, was travelling southbound on Highway 27, north of 18th Sideroad. A 1988 GMC dump truck, driven by a 65-year-old man from the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, also travelling southbound on Highway 27 had stopped for traffic in front of the van.

For reasons that are still under investigation, the driver of the Honda Odyssey collided with the rear of the dump truck.

The driver of the southbound Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the GMC dump truck was not injured.
