Vancouver Police cracked down on an alleged indiscriminate mass stabbing spree in an apartment building on Thursday night, which resulted in six victims being hospitalized with serious injuries. Overall seven people were injured during the incident, though one of them did not suffer any major injuries and was only treated on-site.

Sgt. Randy Fincham has revealed that Vancouver police was unable to find any connection among the victims other than the fact that they were present at an apartment building at Barclay and Bute streets in Vancouver’s west end at around 6:45 p.m. PT, at the time of incident.  Fincham stated that “It appears that a lot of these victims were unrelated to each other and they had no dealings with each other tonight. It was something that possibly happened in the hallway.” Both police and paramedics responded to the incident on-time, as paramedics started treating stab victims, ranging in age from their 20s to 60s, on the spot. In total, overall three men and three women were shifted to a nearby hospital, while a police officer who was slightly injured in attempt to arrest one of the suspects was treated on-site.

Witnesses have informed media sources that the scene was intensely mess. One of the witnesses, Angela Robinson, alleged that “there were about six or eight cop cars on the scene. People were hanging over their balconies directing police, so obviously they could see the [suspect].” She added that “I heard the police shout, ‘Vancouver Police, stay where you are,’ a few times and then I thought it would be best to get out of there.”
