Ford pick-up truck driver dies in fatal collision with moving freight train on Prince Albert Road

The Chatham-Kent police are currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred last night.

At about 10:45 p.m. a white Ford pick-up truck was travelling south on Prince Albert Road from McNaughton Avenue East when the driver collided with a moving freight train.  The vehicle became lodged under a railcar and was dragged approximately five (5) kilometers before the train was able to stop just west of Centre Side Road. 
 
Emergency crews responded to the scene and located the vehicle.  The 44-year-old lone female driver was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity will not be released until next-of-kin notification has taken place.
 
The collision remains under investigation.
