Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 2600 block of the Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 10:45 p.m. last Friday (April 5).

The identity of the male victim, 47, of Houston, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Nickerson and Officer M. Rios reported:

The victim was operating a black Honda Shaddow motorcycle southbound on the Gulf Freeway with a group of other riders when he lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected from the bike. He was then struck by a black Harley Davidson. The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Harley Davidson did not show signs of intoxication. The investigation is continuing.
