Two good Samaritans save a woman from assault in Hamilton

Two citizens came to the assistance of a female being assaulted and assisted with the apprehension of the suspect.
 
On Tuesday, June 22nd, 2010 at approximately 1:00 p.m., a woman was walking through a plaza located on Dundurn St. S. At King St. when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown male.  The suspect started to choke the victim.  The suspect dragged the victim to the ground but she fought back and called for help.
Two citizens, a 28 yr. old Hamilton woman and a 30 yr. old Cambridge man, heard the victim’s plea for help and helped to break the hold of the suspect.  They also called 9-1-1.  The good Samaritans maintained custody of the suspect until the first officer arrived on scene.  The suspect was arrested and was held for a bail hearing scheduled for today.
Both citizens are being commended by Hamilton Police for their quick actions that certainly helped with preventing further criminal acts against the victim and the apprehension of the suspect involved.
