This recall involves 1-litre Scope Original Mint (UPC 056100033165 and UPC 056100003038) and Scope Cool Peppermint (UPC 056100003205) mouthwash bottles. Recalled products have the number 4 on the bottom of the bottle to the far right of the recycling symbol. The bottles with the 4 on the bottom may not be child-resistant. Bottles with malfunctioning caps can be twisted off easily without squeezing the tabs on side of the cap.
Hazard Identified
The child resistant caps on some bottles do not work properly. Scope contains ethyl alcohol, and if the child resistant cap fails, the mouthwash can cause intoxication or illness in a small child if ingested.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of this product.
Corrective Action
Consumers are advised to keep this product out of reach of children. Consumers should contact 
Procter & Gamble at 1-877-340-8825 to obtain a refund or coupon for a replacement.

Approximately 8,680 affected Scope bottles were sold at various retailers throughout Canada.
Time Period Sold
The recalled products were sold from February 2010 to June 2010.
