Lunenburg County RCMP are investigating a boating accident that claimed the life of an 80-year-old man.

On May 18th, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Lunenburg County RCMP received a 911 call of a capsized boat with two men in the water. RCMP, Emergency Health Services and the Northfield Fire Department responded to the scene and found a 63-year-old man and an 80-year old man who had been taken to shore by other boaters. Both men who are from the local area were taken to the South Shore Regional Hospital by ambulance. The 80-year-old man passed away in hospital later in the evening.

The victim has been identified as Harris Arthur Turner, 80, from West Northfield, Nova Scotia. Police do not suspect foul play and the cause of the incident remains under investigation.
