Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a traffic accident that killed a Harris County Sheriff’s Office sergeant on West Little York at North Shepherd about 3:10 a.m. on Sunday (May 19).
The suspect, Andres Munos-Munos (H/m, DOB: 5-20-90), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 183rd State District Court.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant T. Trometer and Officer D. Ashford reported:
An off-duty Harris County Sheriff’s Office sergeant was in uniform and driving his personal vehicle westbound on West Little York while the suspect was driving a white GMC pickup truck northbound on North Shepherd. The suspect ran the red light and struck the deputy’s pickup truck in the intersection. The deputy died at the scene. The suspect was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with minor injuries and then booked into jail and charged.
The investigation is continuing.
