In the early evening of July 13, 2010, a police vehicle was involved in a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 116 near Rexton, N.B., while responding to an emergency call.

While traveling west, the police vehicle met with oncoming traffic which ceded way to the emergency vehicles. One of the oncoming vehicles swerved into the west-bound lane causing the police officer to immediately respond by moving to the soft shoulder of the road to avoid a head-on collision. This rapid reaction combined with the soft shoulder forced the police vehicle off the paved road into the ditch where it ended up on its roof.

The police officer sustained minor injuries in the accident.

Road conditions and weather conditions were good at the time of the incident.
