A man has died after a motorcycle collision on Memorial Drive yesterday.

On Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a 2012 Aprilla RSV4 motorcycle, driven by a 22-year-old man was travelling east in the 1000 block of Memorial Drive N.E.

At the same time a Ford Escape was travelling east on Memorial Drive N.E., just past the Zoo when the motorcycle rounded a bend to the right and collided into the back end of the vehicle.

The driver of the motorcycle was thrown approximately 44 meters and died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The occupant of the Escape was uninjured.

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section continues to investigate.

Although alcohol does not appear to have been a factor, investigators believe speed may have played a role.
