In the latest development of much awaited cabinet shuffle by Prime Minister Stephen Harper expected today, it has been announced that out of the eight new faces added to his cabinet, four will be female. At the same time, reporters witnessed Calgary MP, Michelle Rempel, and Manitoba MP, Shelly Glover, pulling up in the driveway at Rideau Hall in advance of the shuffle expected at 11 a.m. ET.

The official Twitter account of PM Harper is continuously publishing details into the shuffle, as it has already declared that Glover will be named as the new heritage minister in place of James Moore, whereas Rempel will be named as the new minister of state for western economic diversification. Reporters are now eyeing the driveway of the Governor General’s residence for any significant presence in advance of 11 a.m., as those who might be added for the first time to cabinet are expected to show up at the time. However, current cabinet ministers might also be among those, even if they aren’t being shuffled

A source anticipated that “[it] will be a substantial and significant shuffle,” reiterating that “there will be new faces and younger members alongside experienced and capable hands.” It was also revealed that these newly appointed ministers are mostly going to be women and that the government’s main focus will be fixed on the economy. Harper’s Twitter account is posting messages about the shuffle and he wrote that he is “proud to be naming four new strong, capable women” to the cabinet.
