Jesse Gaudreau of Whitby dies after being struck by a vehicle

An 18-year-old Whitby man struck by a vehicle Friday evening, in Whitby, has succumbed to his injuries this weekend.

On Friday July 16, 2010 at approximately 6:04 p.m., officers from Central West Division were called to Taunton Road west of Cochrane Street in Whitby regarding a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle. 

A Volvo, travelling westbound on Taunton Road collided with a pedestrian who was attempting to cross southbound on Taunton Road. The pedestrian hit the windshield of the Volvo causing the male victim serious head injury. Citizens provided CPR prior to Ambulance and Fire attending the scene. The male was rushed to Lakeridge Health Oshawa and later transferred to Sunnybrook Health Services with life-threatening injuries. 

Jesse GAUDREAU, age 18, of Whitby passed away at Sunnybrook Health Services on Saturday morning. The driver of the Volvo was not physically injured in the collision. 

Collision investigators from the Traffic Services Branch were called and the roadway was closed for several hours to collect evidence and conduct their investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
