29 year old Halifax man hits a dump truck while on drugs

A man faces charges in connection with a collision this morning in Halifax.

Police responded to Oxford and Oak Streets at 9 a.m. after a collision between a vehicle and a dump truck. The vehicle, which was travelling south bound on Oxford Street, crossed the center line and hit the north bound traveling dump truck head on. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene on foot and was located at Jubilee Road and Connaught Avenue where he was arrested without incident.

A 29-year-old Halifax man is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident. It is alleged that the driver was impaired by drugs. He also was issued three summary offence tickets for driving without a license, driving without insurance and crossing over the centre line.
