RCMP are investigating the attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl in Memramcook, New Brunswick. The incident occurred at approximately 03:20 pm on July 21, 2010, on Renaissance Road. A man attempted to grab the young victim from behind as she exited a building. The victim was able to break free from the suspect and run for help. The suspect was described as being slim, medium height and wearing a black hoody.

Police are interested in speaking to a male individual, matching the same description, who was seen at what used to be the Cooker Restaurant on Rennaissance Road in Memramcook at approximately 11:00 am the same morning. The individual was driving an older Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Plymouth, dark blue in color. The police are continuing their investigation and would like to speak to anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation.

RCMP investigators have determined that the report of an attempted abduction made by a 10-year-old girl in Memramcook, N.B. is false. While being interviewed by investigators on July 22, 2010, the young girl admitted that she had made up the incident.

RCMP are no longer looking for any suspects and because of the age of the young girl involved, no charges are being considered.
