Toronto police court officer Steven Reid and Vinroy Ellis charged with robbery

A TPS civilian member has been arrested and charged.

It is alleged that:

– on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at 9:20 p.m., a woman answered a knock at her door in the 6th Street/Lake Shore Boulevard area,

– three men, one armed with a firearm, forced their way into the apartment,

– the suspects demanded property,

– they fled the apartment,

Responding officers arrested two of the suspects. One suspect is still outstanding.

Court Officer Steven Reid, 25, of Toronto, with one year’s service with the TPS, has been charged with:

1) two counts of Robbery while armed with firearm
2) two counts of Forcible confinement
4) Personating peace officer
5) Theft over
6) Possession property obtained by crime

Vinroy Ellis, 23, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1) two counts of Robbery while armed with firearm
2) two counts of Forcible confinement

Police believe there may be other victims.

The two accused were scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Thursday, August 29, 2010, room 206, at 10 a.m.
