Saskatchewan resident Bradley Raymond Chanin charged with sexual offences abroad

Bradley Raymond Chanin, (D.O.B.-May 29, 1963), was arrested on September 19, 2013 near Biggar, Saskatchewan for sexual offences against a child under 12 years of age.  Police allege the offences took place in Doha, Qatar.The success of this investigation was made possible through a multi-agency cooperation between the lead agency, the Saskatchewan I.C.E Unit, the RCMP Canadian Police Center for Missing and Exploited Children/ Behavioural Sciences Branch (Ottawa), the RCMP International Liaison Office in Thailand, as well as the Royal Thai Police Department. Criminal charges in Canada against Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada for offences that took place in a foreign country, are permissible pursuant to the extra-territorial provision of Section 7 (4.1) of the Criminal Code. The section requires the consent of the Attorney General of Canada.

Bradley Chanin is charged with sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and making child pornography. CHANIN will make his first court appearance on Friday, September 20, 2013, at 10:00 am in Saskatoon.

The investigation stemmed from a child pornography investigation in December 2012,  in which, Bradley Chanin was charged for possession of child pornography.  Sentencing on that charge is set to take place October 23, 2013.

The relationship to the victim is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.
