Pedestrian man dies after fatal vehicle struck in northeast Edmonton

A 56 year-old male pedestrian died in hospital after he was struck by a car in northeast Edmonton on Monday.

At approximately 6:28 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, a BMW X3 was travelling southbound on 66th Street and was proceeding to turn westbound on Fort Road.  It was reported that the vehicle allegedly struck a pedestrian who had stepped off the curb onto 66 Street.

EMS treated and transported the male to hospital with undetermined injuries.  The male succumbed to his injuries and died last night.  The driver of the car did not report any injuries.

The EPS Major Collisions Investigation Section continues to investigate the circumstances.  It is not known at this time whether there will be charges against the 46-year-old male driver.
