The Edmonton Police Service has one male in custody after investigating allegations of child pornography and related sex crimes that were reported over the weekend.

On Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, the Child Protection Section at the Zebra Centre received an allegation of sexual assault involving a six-year-old female child. An in-depth investigation led by Child Protection Section and involving numerous detectives from the EPS resulted in yesterday’s arrest of Edmonton resident William John Brons, 61, who also goes by the first name of Jack.

The charges relate to several incidents reported to have occurred between the end of August 2013 and as recent as last week, in the Alberta cities of Edson, Calmar and at a business location in southeast Edmonton.

Brons has been charged with sexual interference (x2), sexual assault (x2) and one count each of invitation to sexual touching, providing sexual explicit material to a Child, making child pornography and possess child pornography. Further charges are pending.
