On August 7, 2010 shortly after 4 pm, District 4 RCMP responded to a crash involving a small airplane in Cape Tormentine.

Witnesses told police that the small one passenger plane had left Cape Tormentine Airstrip and had flown a short distance at low altitude. Shortly after, it was seen crashing down into a field near Route 960 in Cape Tormentine.

The pilot was transported to the hospital in Sackville with minor injuries. The experienced pilot told police he had to make an emergency controlled landing due to engine failure.
