Central East Division continues to investigate after a pick up truck was driven into a house on Ritson Road South in Oshawa early this morning.

Just after midnight, residents were awakened by the loud screeching of tires followed by a loud crashing sound. They were surprised to see a grey pick up truck had crashed into the front concrete steps of a house, causing damage to both the vehicle and the residence. The operator of the vehicle had failed to remain at the scene of the collision. Officers arrived and began searching in the area for the driver.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., a local resident detained an intoxicated male between two houses on Oshawa Boulevard South and officers arrived to continue the arrest. The investigation is continuing to determine if the male is connected, in any way, to the collision.

Investigators believe the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Stacey Avenue, failed to stop at the stop sign at Ritson Road and proceeded across Ritson before striking the residence.
