This evening, the Ottawa Police Collision Investigation Section charged Suranjan Arasaratnam, 28 years old, of Ottawa in relation to the fatal collision on May 26th. He is charged with:
– Criminal Negligence Causing Death, Sec 220(b) CC
– Criminal Negligence Cause Bodily Harm, Sec 221 CC
– Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle Causing Death, Sec 249(4) CC
– Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Sec 249(3) CC
He was released on a promise to appear; and is scheduled to appear in court on December 16, 2013.
The male victim has been identified as Kouchi Matsumoto, 70 years old. His name is being released publicly with permission from his family.
