On Monday, August 30th, 2010 an investigation by the DRPS Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), led to the discovery of a marihuana grow op on Lavery Trail in Toronto. Officers observed the suspect enter the residence and then executed a CDSA search warrant. Officers breached the front door and discovered a sophisticated indoor marihuana growing factory, complete with eight surveillance cameras, water-cooled air conditioners and carbon dioxide generators. After searching the residence, the accused was discovered hiding under insulation in the attic.
Officers seized 875 marihuana plants, most in mature condition. Estimated street level value of the plants is $1 million. Officers also discovered an illegal hydro bypass and water bypass. There was also extensive water damage in the residence due to the high humidity levels.
Yun CHEN, age 42 of Lavery Trail in Toronto is charged with Production, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Theft of Hydro. He was held for a bail hearing.
