Police have found and revealed positive ID’s of the three victims killed in what is believed to be a drug-related shooting this week. According to the authorities, the victims included a 16-year-old high school student Brenda Pathammavong, her boyfriend and her brother, who is being remembered as a “beautiful soul” who would go out of her way to help others.
Pathammavong was found shot dead inside a red Lexus at the time police arrived to a Richmond Hill housing co-op early on Wednesday morning. A statement read on Friday said that “Brenda’s family and friends are devastated by this tragedy. Brenda was a positive, selfless young woman who deeply loved her family.” It was added that “although she was the youngest in the family, her family and their needs were always her first priority. Her family and friends will greatly miss Brenda’s always-present bright smile, giggles, intelligence and sass.” Both Pathammavong’s brother and boyfriend were also shot in the same care, but were alive at the time police arrived and were quickly shifted to a nearby hospital.
York Regional Police updated on Thursday that Pathammavong’s boyfriend, 18-year-old Premier Hoang, was unable to make it, but her 20-year-old brother still remains in critical condition at the hospital. Later on Friday, police disclosed that they believe the shooting was “drug-related” and that the three victims and the suspects knew each other. Investigators are currently searching for two men, described as black, in their 20s and wearing baggy clothing.
