Lawrence Michael Roberts charged with indecent assault

The Toronto Police Service is alerting the public to a historic sexual assault investigation.

It is alleged that:

– in the late 1970s, the accused worked as a stage and laser-light technician for music bands in the Toronto area with the NTSC video road show,

– he used his technical equipment to entice the victims,

– over several months, the accused sexually assaulted a 13-year-old boy.

At the end of May 2010, the victim reported the assaults to police.

On Thursday, August 19, 2010, a search warrant was executed at the accused’s home in Goderich, where he was arrested and charged.

The accused is known to have travelled extensively, and has resided in Toronto, Burlington, Mississauga, Hamilton, Goderich, and Thunder Bay. He has also travelled throughout Canada, including Saskatoon and Calgary and has also frequented China.

Lawrence Michael Roberts, also known as L-Michael Roberts, 60, of Goderich, has been charged with:

1. three counts of Indecent Assault on a Male,
2. two counts of Buggery,
3. Make or Possess Obscene Matter.

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on September 14, 2010, room 301, 2 p.m.

Police believe there may be more victims.
