Toronto man Jermaine Copeland & woman Kaitlynn Dutton charged in an armed robbery investigation

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad is appealing for assistance identifying a man and woman wanted in an attempted armed robbery investigation.

On Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 9 p.m., a man and a woman entered a Hindu Temple in the Kennedy Road and McNicoll Avenue area.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2014, a man and woman were arrested and charged.

It is alleged that:

– the man and woman committed an armed robbery at the temple

– the same man and woman committed a robbery at a retail cell phone store in November 2012.

– the man broke into the same temple as the robbery on January 7, 2013 

Jermaine Copeland, 28, of Toronto has been charged with:

1. four counts of Robbery
2. five counts of Forcible Confinement 
3. three counts of Disguise with Intent 
4. Assault with Intent
5. Possession of Counterfeit money
6. Break & Enter

Kaitlynn Dutton, 19, of Toronto, has been charged with:

1. four counts of Robbery
2. five counts of Forcible Confinement 
3. two counts of Disguise with Intent 
4. Assault with Intent
5. Possession of Counterfeit Money

The investigation is ongoing.

Police are asking for the public’s assistance identifying a man associated to the two accused, known as “Kumar.” Security camera video captured what police believe to be his mini-van leaving the temple on the night of the robbery. The van is described as a light-colored, older mini-van.
