On Saturday, January 11, 2014, at approximately 11:30 p.m., police responded to a see ambulance call regarding a man who had fallen in front of 1523 Birchmount Road.
Police attended and found Toronto EMS tending to a man with obvious head injuries. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
It is alleged that:
– further investigation revealed the victim was assaulted by two men
On Tuesday, January 14, 2014, the victim sucummbed to his injuries in hospital.
The victim has been identified as Osman Awad, 24, of Toronto.
On Thursday, January 16, 2014, a post-mortem examination was completed and the cause of death determined as blunt-impact head trauma.
On Friday, January 17, 2014, charges against two men were upgraded to Second-Degree Murder.
Joey Dionne, 20, and Justin Dionne, 19, of Toronto, have both been charged with Second-Degree Murder.
They appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Friday, January 17, 2014.
