As previously released on September 1st, 2010 at approximately 5:20 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service Uniform Members, along with Emergency Services Personnel were dispatched to attend to a residence in the 500 block of Pritchard Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located a 15 year old male suffering from what appears to be stab wounds to his upper body.

This male victim was transported to the hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

The investigation conducted by the Division 13 Crime Unit has revealed that a male suspect attended to this area wearing a bandana concealing his face and confronted the three people who were outside a residence and demanded their clothing. Two male victims, aged 15 and 19 years complied with this request as this suspect indicated that he a knife. As a result of this, a 15 year old female ran across the street and notified others in the area that this suspect had a knife.

A 15 year old male that had not been involved in the initial incident, came and intervened. An altercation subsequently occurred between this male youth and the suspect resulting in the victim being stabbed. The suspect male fled and police were notified.

On September 8th, 2010 at approximately 2:30 p.m., the suspect male was located in the 1st 100 block of Manor House Court.

Kevin Vernon FRANKLIN, 18 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:
– Robbery
– Robbery with a weapon
– Assault with a weapon
– Possess weapon for dangerous purpose
– Wear disguise

FRANKLIN has been detained in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
