Fatal shooting at a parking lot at 112 Street and 104 Avenue claims a man’s life

The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a fatal shooting that left one man dead and another injured outside a downtown restaurant early this morning.

Downtown Division officers responded to a report of shots fired at 2:22 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, in a parking lot at 112 Street and 104 Avenue. Police found one male dead at the scene and a 28-year-old male with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the arm. 

Officers contained the scene and interviewed dozens of cooperative witnesses. The suspect – described as a tall black male – fled on foot.

The EPS Homicide Section is leading the investigation; the identity and age of the deceased has not yet been confirmed. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow morning.
