Homicide suspect Justin Atelard Catcheway arrested for second degree murder

On January 19, 2014 at 3:00 p.m., officers and other emergency personnel responded to a residence located in the 200 block of Andrews Street for the report of an injured male.

Upon arrival officers located the victim Justin Desmarais, 24 years, deceased within the home.

As a result of the continued investigation by members of the Homicide Unit, it is believed that the deceased and a male known to him were involved in a physical altercation within the residence on January 18, 2013.

The cause of death has been determined to be blunt force trauma to the upper body.

A suspect was identified as Justin Atelard Catcheway, 30 years-old and a Canada-Wide Warrant for 2nd Degree Murder was obtained.  As efforts to locate Catcheway had met with negative results, police had requested the public’s assistance in locating him.

On March 28, 2014 at approximately 6:30 p.m. Catcheway was taken into custody without incident in the 400 block of Kennedy Street by members of the Tactical Support Team. 

He has been detained in custody.
