On Friday, April 4, 2014, at approximately 2:20 a.m., police were called to the Mutual Street/Gerrard Street East area for the reports of sound of gunshots.

While en route, police were called to the Carlton Street/Parliament Street area for the report of a collision.

Once on scene of the collision, police found a man with multiple gunshot wounds in a black Chevrolet Malibu. The man was taken to hospital and later pronounced dead.

The man has been identified as Shmar Parris, 25, of Toronto

It is reported that a light-coloured SUV was seen fleeing, then later seen driving erratically, westbound on Gardiner Expressway, west of Parliament Street.

It is believed that an altercation involving the Malibu and the SUV began on Mutual Street, and ended at the collision scene.
